  • Friday Feels & “The Last of Us” Series 2

    Apr 25th, 2025

Morning all on this Friday morning! Hope everyone’s feeling good and ready to slide into the weekend.

Quick one for all the gamers out there – has anyone played The Last of Us? My husband is a huge fan and played through the game, totally hooked. I ended up watching a lot of it with him, and even as someone who doesn’t usually play, I was drawn in by the story and the characters. It’s such a powerful, emotional game.

So when the TV series came out, we were all over it – and now Series 2 has started, I just had to jump back in. I watched the first episode recently and it was so good! It really pulls you straight back into that world. The atmosphere, the storytelling, and the emotional weight – everything is still so strong.

I’m already counting down the days for episode 2! If you loved the game, or even just enjoy a gripping, well-made series with depth and drama, I’d definitely recommend giving it a go. The creators have done such a great job staying true to the game while expanding it in really interesting ways.

Anyone else watching it? Would love to hear your thoughts!

Happy Friday everyone – have a good one!

  • The Risk That Changed Everything

    Apr 25th, 2025

The last time I took a real risk? It wasn’t skydiving or quitting my job on a whim. It was something far more personal.

It was deciding to finally put up this blog.

For years, I let fear and self-doubt keep me quiet. I’d write in private—scraps of thoughts, stories half-finished, feelings too tangled for spoken words. Writing was always my safe place, but sharing it? That felt impossible. Too raw. Too exposing. What if no one read it? Or worse—what if they did?

Then came the idea of uploading my photos to Shutterstock. Again, it sounds small, maybe even insignificant to some. But for me, it was another layer of vulnerability. I’d never put myself—or my creative work—out there. I was scared people would judge, that it wouldn’t be “good enough.” That I wouldn’t be.

But something shifted when my partner sat across from me one evening and said, “What’s the worst that could happen? You love this. So do it.”

    So I did.

Slowly. Awkwardly. Nervously. I launched the blog. Chose the name. Uploaded the photos. Hit “publish” with shaking hands and a heart pounding louder than a drum. And you know what?

It was a big risk. Maybe not in the traditional sense, but for me, it was huge.

It was me saying: I’m here. This is my voice. This is what I love.

    And that’s powerful.

Sometimes, the scariest things are the ones that ask us to show up as our true selves. But I’ve learned that putting yourself out there doesn’t mean you have to be fearless—it just means you have to be willing.

So here I am, showing up.

And if you’re reading this, maybe it’s time for you to take that risk, too. Whatever it is. However small it might seem. If it matters to you, it matters.

    And you’re not alone.

  • The Most Positive Thing My Family Ever Did for Me

    Apr 15th, 2025

I’ve been incredibly lucky in life. I don’t say that lightly—I truly mean it. There have been countless moments where my family has shown me love, support, and kindness in ways that many only dream of. From surprise trips and birthdays made extra special to those quiet, everyday moments that showed me I was loved and appreciated, I’ve always felt cared for.

But if I had to choose the most positive and impactful thing my family has ever done for me, it wouldn’t be a gift or a gesture. It would be their unwavering presence.

When I was diagnosed with epilepsy at just 10 years old, my world changed. How does a child deal with that? I was shy, unsure of myself, and I carried a fear of being a burden to others. I didn’t want to speak about how I was feeling—sometimes it felt like the words just wouldn’t come out, no matter how badly I wanted to say them.

But my mum… she never gave up on me. She was my rock. Always there, gently encouraging me, helping me break down those walls I’d built around myself. Even when I resisted, even when I went quiet, she stood by me. We got through it together. Her voice, her calm, her strength—it helped me believe that everything would be okay. That I wasn’t alone. The biggest gift she gave me? Confidence. The courage to speak out, and eventually, never shut up (in the best possible way!).

My dad, on the other hand, wasn’t much of a talker. But his support came through in a different way. He taught me to be strong, to stand tall, and most importantly, to not care what people think. He showed me that being unapologetically myself was more than enough—and that belief has stuck with me ever since.

Together, they shaped who I am today. I look back now and I’m filled with gratitude. For their love, for their patience, and for the strength they passed on to me. Whatever life throws my way, I know I’ve got that foundation—and for that, I’ll always be thankful.

  • Morning Musings: Migraines, Sunshine & a Little Wake-Up Call

    Apr 8th, 2025

    Morning all,
Happy sunny Tuesday! ☀️ I hope you’re all doing well and enjoying this beautiful weather. I know I’ve been a little quiet the past couple of days—truth is, I haven’t been feeling the best. I got hit with a migraine, and let me tell you… it was not fun.

I don’t usually suffer from migraines, so it really threw me. It completely wiped me out. I’ve been trying to pinpoint the cause, and honestly, I think it might’ve been a mix of a few things. I’ve been eating a lot of sweet things lately (my biggest weakness!), and I spent quite a bit of time out in the sun on Sunday—maybe a little too much. It’s hard to say exactly what triggered it, but either way, it was a wake-up call.

One thing I have to mention, though, is the lifesaver that helped me feel human again: Kool ‘n’ Soothe for migraines. If you’ve never tried them, I highly recommend keeping a pack tucked away just in case. The relief was honestly amazing. I stuck one on, closed my eyes, and finally felt some peace.

So with that said, I’ve decided it’s time to get back on track and go back to healthier habits. More water, less sugar (wish me luck), and just being a bit kinder to my body. Sometimes it takes feeling rough to remind us to check in with ourselves, doesn’t it?

Anyway, I hope your week is off to a lovely start. I’m easing back in, and grateful to feel a bit more like myself today.

Let me know—have you ever had a migraine out of nowhere? And what are your go-to remedies when you’re feeling off?

  • The Books I Could Read Over and Over Again: Barbara Taylor Bradford’s Worlds

    Apr 8th, 2025

There’s something magical about finding an author whose words you can return to time and time again—like an old friend, always there when you need comfort, escape, or inspiration. For me, that author is Barbara Taylor Bradford.

I absolutely love her books. I could submerge myself in them for hours, completely forgetting the world around me. Her stories are more than just words on a page—they’re rich, emotional journeys filled with strength, ambition, love, and legacy. Every time I pick one up, I feel like I’m stepping into another world.

I close my eyes, and suddenly I’m there—walking through the grand estates, standing in the middle of family drama, feeling the hope and heartbreak of her unforgettable characters. Her writing has this vivid, immersive quality that makes you feel like you’re living the story rather than just reading it. Whether it’s the elegance of A Woman of Substance or the sweeping sagas that follow, there’s always something powerful and deeply human at the heart of her books.

There’s comfort in returning to something familiar, especially when life feels overwhelming. And Barbara Taylor Bradford’s novels have always been that comforting escape for me—stories I can revisit over and over, and still feel something new each time.

If you haven’t read her yet, I wholeheartedly recommend diving into her world. You might find yourself just as swept away as I always am.

  • My Daily Rituals: Weekdays vs. Weekends

    Apr 1st, 2025

We all have our little routines that bring structure to our days. For me, weekdays and weekends follow their own distinct rhythms, each offering its own comfort and familiarity.

    Weekday Mornings: The Hustle Begins

The alarm goes off, and the day begins. My husband is always up first, heading downstairs to prepare breakfast while I get ready for work. It’s a little ritual that makes my mornings smoother—knowing I don’t have to worry about making breakfast is such a relief.

Meanwhile, he also takes our cockapoo, Molly, out for her morning walk. She’s full of energy, and while she can be a handful on walks, she absolutely loves her little outings. By the time I come downstairs, breakfast is ready, and I get a few minutes to enjoy it before heading off to work. Then, it’s time to face the day ahead.

    Weekends: A Slower Pace

Weekends are for slowing down and enjoying the little things. There’s no rush to be anywhere, and I take my time getting up. One of my favorite Saturday traditions is heading out for food shopping, but not before indulging in a delicious breakfast. A bacon sandwich and a hot chocolate are my go-to choices—because let’s be honest, there’s nothing better than the warmth of a rich, chocolatey drink to start the day. My husband, on the other hand, sticks to his usual latte.

Weekends also mean catching up with family. Whether it’s a quick visit or a relaxed gathering, spending time with loved ones is something I always look forward to.

    Finding Comfort in Routine

There’s something reassuring about these little rituals. They give a sense of normalcy and stability in the midst of life’s ups and downs. Whether it’s the structured rush of a weekday morning or the laid-back start to a weekend, these routines make each day feel just a little more special.

  • Dancing Through Life: A Love That Never Fades

    Mar 28th, 2025

When I was five, I don’t think I remember what I wanted to be. At that age, life was all about play, laughter, and exploring the world one small step at a time. But by the time I was eight, one thing was clear—I had a love for dancing.

Music would play, and I would feel an undeniable urge to move. It wasn’t about being the best dancer in the room; it was about the joy, the rhythm, and the way the music made me feel. Despite being incredibly shy, I went to every dance class, eager to learn, to move, and to express myself in ways words sometimes failed to do.

That love hasn’t faded. Even now, I can’t go a day without music. Whether it’s in the background as I go about my day or blasting through my headphones, music has a way of relaxing me, grounding me, and reminding me of who I am.

Dancing is more than just movement—it’s an escape, a release, and a way to connect with emotions that are sometimes hard to express. It doesn’t matter if I’m alone in my living room or in a crowd; the moment the music starts, I feel at home.

It’s funny how childhood passions stay with us, shaping who we become. I may not dance in a class anymore, but I dance through life in my own way—moving to the beat of my own rhythm, embracing the joy that music and movement bring.

Because some loves never fade, they just grow with us.

  • Understanding Epilepsy: More Than Just Seizures

    Mar 27th, 2025

Epilepsy is one of the most misunderstood neurological conditions. While awareness has improved over the years, many people still have a limited or generalized understanding of what it actually is. Often, when people hear the word “epilepsy,” they immediately think of a person collapsing to the ground and convulsing. But in reality, epilepsy is much more complex than that.

    The Many Forms of Epilepsy

Epilepsy is not a one-size-fits-all condition. There are over 40 different types of seizures, and not all of them involve convulsions. Some people experience absence seizures, where they simply blank out for a few seconds, while others may have focal seizures, where only part of the brain is affected, causing unusual movements or sensations. Some types of epilepsy are well-controlled with medication, while others are resistant to treatment.

Despite the diversity of epilepsy, public understanding often remains limited to what is shown in movies or television, which tend to portray the most dramatic seizures. This can be frustrating for those who live with less visible forms of epilepsy, as their struggles are often overlooked or misunderstood.

    How Awareness Has Changed

When I was younger, epilepsy was barely mentioned in public discussions, on TV, or in advertising. I remember feeling lost and alone at 11 years old, struggling with something that few people seemed to understand. There was little awareness, and even less support.

Thankfully, things have changed. There are now epilepsy awareness campaigns, medical advancements, and social media communities that help people connect and share their experiences. More schools and workplaces have policies in place to support people with epilepsy, and public figures have started to speak out about their own experiences with the condition.

However, while awareness has improved, it is still not where it should be. Many people still do not fully understand the impact epilepsy has on daily life—how unpredictable it can be, the side effects of medication, the mental health struggles that often come with it, and the social stigma that still lingers.

    Why We Need More Awareness

There is still work to be done. We need to continue educating people about the different types of epilepsy, how to properly respond to a seizure, and how to support those living with the condition. Schools, workplaces, and public spaces should be better equipped to accommodate people with epilepsy, making them feel safe and included.

No one should feel alone because of a medical condition. By continuing to raise awareness, we can create a world where people with epilepsy are not just understood but fully supported in their everyday lives.

If you or someone you know has epilepsy, remember that you are not alone. There is a growing community of people who understand, who are working to spread awareness, and who are fighting for better support and representation. The journey isn’t over, but we’ve come a long way—and we’ll keep going.

    Mar 25th, 2025

For me, it’s quite dangerous because I love hot chocolate. I try to be strong and limit myself, and I’m quite good—I don’t add cream or marshmallows (which definitely helps!). But there’s just something about curling up with a delicious hot chocolate, especially when it’s chilly outside, that feels like pure bliss.

If you’re a chocolate lover, this might just be the best investment you make! Have you tried the Velvetiser before? Let me know your thoughts!
