  • The Joy of Colouring as an Adult

    Feb 20th, 2025

In my previous post, I shared how therapy and colouring books have played a role in helping me manage stress and anxiety. Colouring has always been more than just a childhood pastime for me—it’s a form of relaxation, creativity, and self-expression.

Recently, I discovered a beautiful colouring book called Worlds of Wonder, and I instantly fell in love with it. The intricate designs and whimsical illustrations provide a perfect escape from the busyness of everyday life. It allows me to focus, unwind, and embrace the simple joy of adding colour to a blank canvas.

If there’s anyone out there who loves colouring as much as I do or even enjoys writing, I truly believe that these activities are not just for kids but for adults as well. There’s something therapeutic about immersing yourself in colours, watching a picture come to life, and letting your creativity flow freely.

Colouring is a wonderful way to de-stress, practice mindfulness, and find a moment of peace in a hectic world. Whether you prefer bold and vibrant colours or soft and subtle tones, it’s a personal experience that brings a sense of accomplishment and joy.

So if you’ve ever thought about picking up a colouring book again, I highly encourage you to do so. It’s a simple pleasure that can bring so much happiness, and who knows? You might just find it as soothing and rewarding as I do.

  • The People I Cherish Most

    Feb 20th, 2025

I’ve always believed that the people we surround ourselves with shape our lives in the most beautiful ways. For me, my favourite people aren’t a large crowd, but a small, close-knit group who bring me joy, comfort, and laughter. These are the people who truly matter, the ones who make life richer and more meaningful.

At the top of my list is my husband. He’s not just my partner in life but also my best friend. He understands me in ways no one else does, supports me through every challenge, and makes even the simplest moments special. Whether we’re having deep conversations or just enjoying each other’s company in comfortable silence, I cherish every second with him.

Then there’s my mum, who has the incredible ability to make me laugh no matter the situation. She’s a source of strength, wisdom, and unconditional love. Her presence always brings a sense of comfort, and I know I can count on her no matter what.

Of course, I can’t forget my best friend. She’s the one I can talk to about anything for hours, without ever running out of things to say. There’s a deep trust between us that makes our friendship truly special. Whether we’re sharing our dreams, venting about life, or simply reminiscing, I always feel understood and supported.

Beyond them, I have a small circle of family and friends who play an important role in my life. They may not be many, but they are the ones who matter. I cherish every memory, every laugh, and every moment we share. Life isn’t about the number of people we know—it’s about the quality of the relationships we nurture.

Surrounding myself with love, laughter, and trust is what makes my world feel whole. And for that, I am endlessly grateful.

  • From Boots to Trainers: My Journey in Footwear

    Feb 19th, 2025

When I was younger, my favorite shoes were my boots. I wore them nearly every day, no matter the occasion. They were sturdy, reliable, and felt like an extension of me—except in the summer, of course. That was the season for my favorite sandals. Those sandals traveled with me on holidays, walked me through warm evenings, and made me feel a little more grown-up. That is, until they betrayed me. Their heels were far too high, and what once felt stylish turned into pure discomfort.

Now, my priorities have completely changed. Comfort is king. My trainers are my go-to, my everyday companions. They take me on dog walks, hiking trails, and long city strolls. They’ve become my most trusted travel companions, and I wouldn’t trade them for anything.

It’s funny how our relationship with shoes evolves over time. Once, I cared about style, making a statement, and feeling a little taller. Now, I just want to walk for miles without a second thought. And honestly? I wouldn’t have it any other way.

What about you? Have your favorite shoes changed over the years?

  • The Calming Power of Colouring: A Simple Way to De-Stress

    Feb 18th, 2025

Lately, I’ve been thinking about healthy ways to unwind after a long day at work or when something happens that triggers anxiety. It’s so easy to get caught up in the stress of the day, and I’ve been searching for simple, effective ways to relax my mind.

Then, I remembered something I used to enjoy—colouring . I used to do it on my iPad, but for me, nothing beats a colouring pen and a book. There’s something incredibly soothing about physically filling in intricate designs with different shades. The act of colouring helps take your mind off stress and brings a sense of calm.

Colouring isn’t just for kids; it’s a fantastic mindfulness activity for adults too. It allows you to focus on the present moment, quieting anxious thoughts while engaging in something enjoyable. Whether you use a physical colouring book or a digital app, it’s a simple way to bring relaxation into your daily routine.

If you’re looking for a new way to de-stress, why not give colouring a try? Grab some coloured pencils, markers, or even a digital stylus and let yourself get lost in the process. You might be surprised at how much it helps!

  • Finding Stress Relief with Our New Treadmill

    Feb 18th, 2025

I have to share something exciting—we recently bought a treadmill! It’s a foldable one, which makes it perfect for our space. I have to admit, I was never a fan of treadmills when I used to go to the gym. Something about running in place never really appealed to me. But my husband, who absolutely loves running, convinced me to give it another shot.

At first, I was hesitant, but as I started using it, I realized something: it made me feel better. There’s something about moving your body, releasing pent-up energy, and just letting go of the stresses of the day that is incredibly therapeutic.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed or just need an outlet for your emotions, I truly believe any form of exercise can help. Whether it’s running, walking, yoga, or even just stretching, movement has a way of easing the mind and body. The simple act of exercising releases tension and allows you to feel more relaxed.

I’ve come to appreciate the treadmill more than I ever thought I would. It’s not just about fitness—it’s about mental clarity, stress relief, and giving yourself the space to breathe. If you’ve ever doubted the power of exercise for your mental well-being, I encourage you to try something that gets you moving. You might be surprised at just how much better you feel!

Have you ever had an exercise routine that helped you de-stress? I’d love to hear what works for you!

  • The Power of Journaling: Tracking Anxiety, Stress, and Health

    Feb 18th, 2025

Journaling has always been something I’ve wanted to be consistent with, and recently, I’ve found a deeper purpose for it. I’ve started a new journal dedicated to tracking how I feel each day—whether it’s anxiety, stress, or any other emotion I’m experiencing. It’s become a way to unload my thoughts, reflect on patterns, and better understand my mental well-being.

I previously bought a book on journaling, but this one is specifically designed for recording my emotions each day. Some days, it’s just a few words, while others, it’s a long entry detailing my thoughts. It’s a small but powerful habit that helps me process what’s on my mind rather than keeping everything bottled up.

In addition to my daily feelings journal, I also keep another journal for my epilepsy. This one is more structured—I track how many shakes or jerks I experience, any absences, and any other notable symptoms. Since I sometimes forget what happened on a particular day, having it written down is invaluable. It allows me to see trends over time and makes it easier to communicate with doctors about my condition.

What I love most about journaling is that it gives me a sense of control. Anxiety and stress can feel overwhelming, but when I put them on paper, they seem a little less daunting. Seeing my thoughts in front of me helps me process them in a way that feels more manageable.

If you’ve ever struggled with anxiety, stress, or even health concerns, I highly recommend keeping a journal. It doesn’t have to be perfect—just honest. Some days, it may be a sentence; other days, a whole page. The most important thing is that it serves as an outlet, a place to be real with yourself.

Have you ever tried journaling? If so, how has it helped you? Let’s start a conversation—I’d love to hear your thoughts!

  • The Best Gifts I Ever Received

    Feb 18th, 2025

Choosing the best gifts I’ve ever received is a difficult task because I have been blessed with so many thoughtful and meaningful presents over the years. Each one carries a special memory or sentiment, making it almost impossible to narrow down. But when I think about the gifts that have truly touched my heart, a few stand out.

One of the most cherished gifts I received was a beautiful necklace my parents gave me for my birthday. It was a stunning piece of jewelry, but its true value lay in the love and thought behind it. This necklace became even more precious to me after my dad passed away. Every time I wear it, I feel a sense of closeness to him, a reminder of the love and bond we shared. It’s a gift that will always hold a special place in my heart.

My husband has also given me countless wonderful gifts over the years. From planning surprise getaways for my birthdays to organizing an unforgettable balloon flight, he has a knack for making me feel special. However, one of the most thoughtful gifts he ever gave me wasn’t grand or extravagant. One Christmas, he bought me a sleeping machine. It might seem like a simple gift, but it has been life-changing for me. The peaceful sounds it plays help me relax and get a good night’s sleep, something that is truly priceless. It was one of the most caring and considerate gifts he could have given me, showing just how much he values my well-being.

But not all gifts come wrapped in pretty paper. One of the greatest treasures in my life has been our cockapoo, Molly. She may not have been a traditional present, but she is undoubtedly one of the best gifts I have ever received. Her unconditional love, companionship, and the joy she brings into our lives every single day make her a true blessing. She has been a source of comfort, laughter, and endless happiness.

Gifts don’t always have to be materialistic to be meaningful. Sometimes, the best presents are those that come from the heart—ones that bring comfort, create memories, and remind us of the love that surrounds us. Whether it’s a beautiful necklace, a thoughtful sleep aid, or the unconditional love of a furry companion, these gifts have enriched my life in ways beyond measure.

  • Cupcake Chaos: A Sweet Success!

    Feb 17th, 2025

Yesterday was a baking day, and what better way to spend it than making cupcakes? Now, I’ll admit, they might not have won any beauty contests, but what they lacked in appearance, they more than made up for in taste!

Baking is always an adventure. From mixing the batter to impatiently waiting for them to rise in the oven, there’s something so satisfying about creating little treats from scratch. The kitchen smelled divine as the cupcakes baked—sweet vanilla and buttery goodness filling the air. This time, we added chocolate chips, which made them even more irresistible.

Once out of the oven, though, let’s just say they had a bit of “character.” Some were a little lopsided, and a few had cracked tops, but that only added to their homemade charm. And the most important part? They tasted absolutely beautiful! Soft, fluffy, with bursts of melted chocolate in every bite—pure bliss.

Baking is so therapeutic; there’s something incredibly calming about focusing on a recipe, measuring, mixing, and watching ingredients transform into something delicious. It’s a moment where all the worries of life seem to wash away, leaving behind only the joy of creating and indulging in a homemade treat.

Of course, no cupcake is complete without a bit of decoration. I attempted some frosting, but let’s just say it didn’t exactly go to plan. A few swirls turned into blobs, and some sprinkles may have gone a little overboard, but hey, it’s all part of the fun, right?

The best part of baking isn’t always how perfect the final product looks—it’s the process, the joy of making something with your own hands, and, of course, getting to enjoy a delicious treat at the end.

Would I bake them again? Absolutely. Would they look better next time? Hopefully! But one thing’s for sure: they’ll still taste just as good.

Have you ever baked something that looked a little wonky but tasted amazing? I’d love to hear about your kitchen adventures!

  • Embracing Well-Being: My Journey with Anxiety and the Power of Journaling

    Feb 17th, 2025

Good morning, everyone! Today, I wanted to dive into something I’m truly passionate about: well-being, anxiety, and how we can navigate through it all. If you’ve been following my blog, you know I’ve touched a bit dealing with anxiety before. I’ve spoken a bit about my experiences in therapy, but I feel like there’s so much more to say. So, I wanted to take a moment to share a bit more about how I’ve been coping and some things that have helped me along the way.

    Anxiety – A Constant Companion
When I left my job last year, it was a huge turning point in my life. That job had been the source of a lot of my anxiety—leading to panic attacks and making me feel completely overwhelmed. I’m in a better place now with a new job, but that doesn’t mean the anxiety just disappeared. There are still moments when I feel like everything is crashing down on me, and I get that familiar knot in my stomach. The anxiety still sneaks up, even though my circumstances have improved.

Some days, I find myself struggling to keep it together. It’s an ongoing journey, and I’m learning to accept that anxiety might always be a part of me, but it doesn’t have to control me.

    Journaling: My Safe Space
One of the most valuable tools I’ve found in my journey with anxiety is journaling. Now, I know this might sound simple, but it has had a profound impact on my mental well-being. I’m not someone who likes to talk about my feelings much—honestly, I find it hard to open up sometimes. But journaling gives me the private space I need to express myself. It’s a way for me to process my emotions without feeling judged or vulnerable.

I treat my journal like a safe haven where I can let my thoughts flow freely. I find that putting my feelings on paper helps me make sense of them and clears my mind. And when I look back at my entries, it’s like I have a backup drive for my brain—a way to remember things that matter and reflect on how far I’ve come.

    How Journaling Helps
Journaling has become more than just an emotional outlet for me—it has truly boosted my mindfulness and well-being. I’ve learned that it can serve so many purposes. It helps me stay grounded in the present, focus on what’s important, and reflect on my journey. Plus, it’s a great way to practice self-compassion and check in with myself.

Here are a few journaling prompts I’ve found helpful for anxiety. If anyone deals with anxiety try these few prompts you never know it might help you like it helped me.

    1. Encourage Yourself: Write down a list of positive affirmations. It may feel cheesy at first, but reminding yourself of your strength, resilience, and worth is incredibly powerful. Some days, I write: “I am strong, I am capable, and I will get through this.”
    2. A Heart-to-Heart with Yourself: When you’re having a tough day, ask yourself, “What do I need right now?” It could be a break, a moment of peace, or a reminder that you’re doing the best you can. Writing this down allows you to honor your feelings and take care of yourself.
    3. Gratitude List: Write down a few things you’re grateful for. Even on the roughest days, there’s always something to be thankful for. Gratitude has a way of shifting your mindset and helping you focus on the positive.
    4. Write a Letter to Your Younger Self: This one took me by surprise. I’ll admit, I thought it was a bit silly at first. But when I wrote a letter to my younger self, it felt like I was giving her the love and encouragement she needed. Reading it back gave me a sense of relief and healing, and I realized how far I’ve come.
    5. Celebrate the Wins: Jot down what went well today, no matter how small. This could be as simple as getting out of bed, taking a deep breath, or completing a task. Celebrating the little wins reminds you that progress is being made, even when it feels slow.

These prompts might sound a little odd at first, but trust me—they really do help. They allow me to reflect, process, and ultimately feel lighter. There’s something incredibly powerful about expressing yourself, whether it’s through writing or just being honest with how you feel in the moment.

    The Healing Power of Writing
I’ve learned that journaling isn’t just about documenting the hard times. It’s about giving yourself permission to feel and reflect on those emotions. It’s a way to reconnect with yourself and process everything that’s going on in your mind.

Writing a letter to my younger self was one of the most cathartic experiences I’ve had. At first, it felt like an odd exercise, but after reading the letter, I felt a deep sense of relief. I was able to offer myself the love and encouragement I needed in the past, and that brought a sense of closure.

    Final Thoughts
I know that living with anxiety is no easy feat, and it’s something I’ll continue to work through. But I’ve realized that there are ways to manage it—small steps that help me stay grounded. Journaling has become one of my most trusted tools, and it’s something I plan to continue to lean on. If you’re struggling with anxiety or simply looking for ways to process your thoughts, I would give journaling a try. You might be surprised at how much it can help.

Thank you for letting me share my experience with you today. It’s a journey, and I’m learning every day. If you’re going through something similar, just know you’re not alone, and there’s always a way forward. Take it one step at a time, and be kind to yourself.

  • My Approach to Budgeting: Keeping Everything in Check with a Mortgage, Bills, and a Gorgeous Cockapoo

    Feb 17th, 2025

When you’ve got a mortgage, bills, food, and a gorgeous girl Cockapoo to look after, budgeting becomes an absolute must. It’s a reality that hit me hard when my husband and I started navigating life on our own. However, what’s made all the difference in our approach is how we embraced budgeting as a team, and how it’s given us the clarity and control we need to keep our finances in check.

    A Helping Hand with Budgeting
Now, I’ll admit—budgeting wasn’t something I was great at when I first started out. But thankfully, my husband loves a good spreadsheet! He’s always been an organized person, and he put his skills to good use by creating a detailed budget spreadsheet for us. It includes all our outgoing expenses, from our mortgage and bills to groceries and treats for our adorable dog.

The spreadsheet allowed us to see exactly where our money was going each month, and it gave us a clearer picture of what we were spending on unnecessary luxuries. One of the biggest areas where we found ourselves overspending was on takeaways. It felt so easy and convenient to grab dinner from the local takeaway, but those little purchases were adding up, and they were taking a bigger chunk of our budget than we realized.

    The Shift to Home Cooking
So, we made a decision: we needed to reign in our takeaway habit and make more home-cooked meals. This wasn’t just about saving money; it also gave us more control over what we were eating, and it allowed us to bond in the kitchen together. We started planning our meals ahead of time, making grocery lists, and sticking to them.

The result? Our takeaway bill dropped dramatically, and we found ourselves enjoying healthier meals and saving money in the process. Not only has cooking at home become a fun activity, but it’s also a rewarding way to stay on track with our budget.

    Reining in Those Luxuries
We’ve all been there—those little luxuries that tempt us to overspend. Whether it’s a new gadget, a trendy piece of clothing, or an impromptu night out, they can easily derail your budget if you’re not careful. One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is that these luxuries can wait.

Instead of feeling like we need to indulge every week, we’ve started to pace ourselves. If we want something special, we plan for it, budget for it, and make sure it fits into our financial goals. This has helped us avoid the feeling of deprivation while also keeping our finances in check.

    Understanding What We Can Spend
One of the best things about our approach to budgeting is that we always know what we can spend. With the spreadsheet tracking our outgoings, we can easily see what’s left for non-essential purchases. It takes the guesswork out of it, which makes sticking to a budget a lot easier. We also check in with each other regularly to make sure we’re still on track. If we feel like we’ve splurged a little too much in one area, we tighten things up for the next month.

This level of transparency has helped strengthen our financial communication, and it’s made us both more mindful of where our money goes.

    The Long-Term Benefits of Budgeting
Budgeting is all about the long game. Sure, it takes some discipline, and it’s easy to get sidetracked with the immediate temptations of spending. But when we stick to the plan, it helps us sleep better at night knowing that we’ve got everything under control. We’re able to cover our bills, save for the future, and still enjoy the things we love without stressing over our finances.

And let’s not forget our dog. She’s an important part of the family, and we make sure her needs are always met. From food to treats to vet visits, she’s always part of the budgeting conversation, and we ensure she gets the care and love she deserves.

    In Conclusion
Having a structured budget, created with the help of my spreadsheet-loving husband, has made all the difference in our finances. From cutting back on takeaways to being more conscious of those little luxuries, budgeting has helped us stay on track and avoid unnecessary overspending. It hasn’t always been easy, but it’s been incredibly rewarding. At the end of the day, budgeting gives us the peace of mind to know that we’re making smart financial decisions that will help us keep our head above water—and ensure we can continue enjoying life and all the things that matter most, including our beautiful Cockapoo!
