The One Thing That Bothers Me Most: Rudeness and Assumptions

If there’s one thing that truly gets under my skin, it’s rudeness—especially when it comes from people who think they’re somehow better than you. That air of superiority, that dismissive attitude… it never sits right. Because at the end of the day, aren’t we all just trying to get through life the best way we can?

It doesn’t take much to be kind. A simple “thank you” can go a long way. Holding a door open, offering a smile, acknowledging someone’s presence—these are little things, but they speak volumes. And yet, it’s amazing how many people walk through life forgetting the basics of human decency. Acting as if good manners are beneath them. As if being respectful is optional.

What bothers me even more is when people make assumptions about you. When they judge without knowing your story, your struggles, or your heart. Maybe they think you’re not smart enough, successful enough, or interesting enough—without ever taking a moment to actually get to know you. They see a snapshot of your life and think they know the whole picture. But they don’t.

Everyone has their own battles. Everyone’s carrying something invisible. So why judge? Why not lead with kindness and curiosity instead?

The truth is, respect should be the default—not something people have to earn. We’re all equals. No one is above anyone else. And if more people remembered that, the world might just feel a little softer, a little warmer, and a whole lot more human.
