When One Door Closes: My Journey Back to Work

The past few months have been a whirlwind. After taking some time away from work to focus on my health and recharge, I was ready to jump back into the workforce. But, as anyone who’s been on the job hunt knows, the process can be anything but smooth.

My last role? Let’s just say it wasn’t for me. I knew within two weeks that it wasn’t going to work out. It’s never easy admitting that a job isn’t the right fit—especially when you’ve invested time and energy into the application and onboarding process. But I knew I had to listen to my gut and move on.

What followed were weeks of interviews, applications, and the inevitable rejections. I’d walk into an interview hopeful, but time and time again, I found myself back at square one. It was frustrating, and I started to doubt whether I’d ever find something that felt right.

And then, just when I was beginning to lose hope, I came across a receptionist role that felt like it was made for me. The interview went well, and before I knew it, I got the call: I’d landed the job!

This role has been everything I hoped for. It’s not overly stressful, which is exactly what I needed after the challenges of the past year. The team is lovely, the environment is welcoming, and I’m finally starting to feel like myself again.

It’s funny how life works sometimes. When things feel uncertain, it’s hard to trust that the right opportunity is around the corner. But this experience has reminded me to stay patient and keep going—even when the road gets bumpy.

Here’s to new beginnings and finding a job that feels like home. So far, so good!
